Job Title: SEMH Teacher (Qualified Teacher Status)

Hours: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Are you a resilient and creative Qualified Teacher with a passion for supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working within an SEMH or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting? If so, we are looking for you to join our dedicated team in Rochdale, Lancashire, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the varying needs of students with SEMH challenges.
2. Use creative teaching methods and adapt your approach to meet the needs of each student.
3. Provide a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters students' social and emotional development.
4. Employ strategies to manage challenging behaviors positively and effectively.
5. Evaluate students' progress and adapt teaching plans accordingly.
6. Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, including educational psychologists, therapists, and social workers, to implement individual education and behavior plans.
7. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and caregivers to support student learning and well-being.
8. Maintain accurate records of students' achievements and progress.
9. Participate in school events, trips, and extracurricular activities as required.
10. Undertake ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices for teaching students with SEMH needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
2. Have previous experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferable within an SEMH or PRU setting.
3. Demonstrate resilience, with the ability to handle challenging situations with compassion and patience.
4. Exhibit a talent for thinking creatively and developing innovative teaching approaches.
5. Ability to adjust lesson plans and teaching methods instantly to respond to the needs of students.
6. Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and the ability to promote the safety and welfare of children.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse range of students, colleagues, and external partners.
8. A commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality.
