Crown Estate Scotland – a unique public corporation managing a diverse portfolio of land and property assets across Scotland – are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Corporate Governance to lead and shape their governance function.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive (Accountable Officer), you’ll be the go-to expert on all things governance, providing vital support to our Non-Executive Board and Executive team. This is a rare opportunity to lead a small but impactful team, ensuring they meet their legislative responsibilities under the Scottish Crown Estate Act 2019 and act in accordance with best practice in public governance.
You’ll manage a wide range of core functions including:
* Secretariat support for the Board and Committees
* Governance and risk management frameworks
* Information governance, including data protection and FOISA
* Business continuity and performance reporting
* Internal audit coordination and compliance
* Complaints handling and statutory reporting
What You’ll Bring
* Proven experience in governance, risk, compliance, or corporate services
* Strong leadership and people management skills
* Deep understanding of legislative and policy frameworks relevant to the public sector
* Strategic thinking with excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
* Confidence working at senior level and across diverse stakeholder groups
* Ideally, relevant qualifications in governance, data protection, or a related field
This role is ideal for someone who can think big while mastering the detail. You’ll be trusted with high-level responsibility, working autonomously while collaborating with the Board, CEO, Audit & Risk Committee, and wider Crown Estate Scotland teams.
