Our libraries are at the heart of our communities, providing book lending services and library-based activities for everyone of all ages, encouraging a lifelong love of reading. For young people, we offer Bookbug for the under-fives, class visits, and after-school book groups for primary school children, along with dedicated evening and weekend support for teens. Our adult visitors enjoy a wide range of titles across traditional and digital platforms, ongoing IT support, and specialized library support for the elderly. Our library service is always evolving, and we look forward to discovering new ways to work with and support our communities.
Successful candidates should have experience working with the public, demonstrate excellent customer service, and communicate effectively with a wide range of people. We value candidates who can support families, toddlers, primary and secondary-aged young people, students, and adults of all ages. Successful candidates will deliver activities and services to these groups, supporting their team to develop relationships and enhance our community provision. These vacancies are offered at Central Library and Oxgangs Library; however, candidates may be expected to work in any of our libraries within the Edinburgh Library Service area.
You must be prepared to work evenings and Saturdays. The shift pattern for this post is attached.
