An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Site Team here at Merryfields School. We are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Site Supervisor. The successful candidate will work a split shift Monday – Friday; this role is a whole year position.
Merryfields School is a generic special school for children aged 3-11 years in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme. We provide a safe, stimulating, and caring environment in which we give children the best possible start to their education. Staff work hard to maintain a friendly, inclusive, and professional atmosphere where nurturing our children’s love of learning is at the heart of everything that we do.
The successful candidate will support our school in providing a safe, effective, and efficient learning environment.
As Site Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
1. General caretaking duties including maintenance and repairs (may include joinery, plumbing, and decorating).
2. Waste management.
3. Statutory and compliance activities.
4. Health and safety checks.
5. As a nominated Key Holder, you will be responsible for some opening and closing of the school premises as well as emergency call outs.
6. Holding a full and clean driving licence to assist with the maintenance requirements of the school mini-bus.
The role will require you to be capable of coping with physically challenging duties due to the built and outdoor environments we have at the school.
You will also have excellent communication skills, the ability to use initiative to plan and prioritise work, and be ready to deal with a variety of situations.
As Site Supervisor, you will need to work flexibly at all times and may, on occasion, be required to work weekends. Line management will include a small team of site staff.
Experience within relevant skilled trades is required (may include joinery, plumbing, grounds maintenance, and decorating).
