Summary of Role:
Capula has been growing year on year, and we are looking to add a new senior role to lead the growing finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions. You will ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, identify, implement and develop robust financial controls, and support strategic decision-making processes. This role requires a high level of expertise in financial management, strong financial accounting skills, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day overall management of finance function, ensuring the appropriate level of resources and responsibilities
2. Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals including, 3 direct reports – Finance Manager, Financial Accountant and Finance Business Partner
3. Ensure the integrity of the financial accounting systems and financial reports to reflect the financial transactions of the company and is accurate and a true reflection of the company’s financial performance, assets and liabilities
4. Identify improvements to existing processes, creating efficiencies by developing MI tools
5. Review of cashflow forecasts, working capital management and reporting thereon
6. Ensure the appropriate KPI reporting and targets are in place and monthly dashboards are reported accurately and on time with excellent commentary for key stakeholders
7. Ensure the company complies with Group, Accounting Standards, and UK Companies Act reporting requirements
8. Take the lead and be the principle point of contact for the auditors, dealing effectively with all matters in connection with internal and external audit and ensure that all audit requirements and audit points (financial and control related) are dealt with effectively and on a timely basis in accordance with the expectations of the Finance Director
9. Planning team deadlines, ensure the month end process is delivered on time and accurately
10. Perform first line review and oversight of consolidated reforecasts and budget submissions (via FBP/FM) ready for FD review and sign off and co-ordinate completion of group reporting packs
11. Ensure that all authorisation processes are complied with for financial transactions
12. Work closely with Finance Director to deliver one-off improvement projects within agreed timescales
13. To provide oversight and ensure accurate delivery of all necessary external reporting requirements and completion of all statutory financial returns (incl. VAT, Corporation tax, ONS)
Ideally what we are looking for:
Qualifications and Experience
1. Fully Qualified Accountant from a recognised body (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with 5+ years post qualification experience in a similar role
2. Extensive experience working in a FC role in a contracting business
3. Self-motivated, well organised, committed and proactive with a proven ability to achieve results and objectives
4. Works well with stakeholders to confidently manage and prioritise deadlines effectively and can cope well with the demands from the business
5. Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and team management experience
6. Excellent communication skills to present financial information
7. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
8. Professionalism and business integrity
9. Proficiency in financial modelling and forecasting
10. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
11. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and make decisions and recommendations
12. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
