Location: We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester or London office once or twice a week.

The role:
1. Leads by example in crafting high-quality software solutions and acts as a technical mentor within the team, driving innovation and efficiency in development practices.
2. Leads the development work within a project or cross functional product team or across several smaller ones.
3. Leads complex development tasks and initiatives, ensuring best practices are adhered to.
4. Develops robust solutions and provides oversight during the implementation phase.
5. Serves as a technical mentor, supporting and upskilling other engineers.
6. Contributes actively to the development and delivery of software features and bug fixes.
7. Provides expert input to product lifecycle decisions such as moves to service transition, roles and expertise required and appropriate technical solutions.
8. Writes clean, scalable, and testable code.
9. Participates in code reviews to learn best practices and coding standards.
10. Participates in the technical testing of code.
11. Contributes to the development of features or bug fixes.
12. Stays up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in software engineering to continuously improve personal skills and the quality of products.
13. Mentors more junior members of the team.
The person:
1. Excellent software development expertise, with a focus on writing high performance, scalable, and secure code.
2. Strong mentorship skills, guiding less experienced team members towards excellence.
3. Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities in complex environments.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of modern software architectures, design patterns, and best practices.
5. Deep understanding of the full software development and deployment lifecycle, including CI / CD practices.
6. Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in the industry (JavaScript & Python).
7. Good problem solving, analytical and logical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex software problems.
8. Good written and verbal communication skills, necessary for effective teamwork, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
9. Substantial software development experience, preferably with a history of progressing through various levels of engineering roles.
10. Track record of successful project and product delivery and a significant contribution to the technical community.
11. Science/Computer Science degree or relevant industry experience.
