We are seeking to recruit a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Worker to join the Adult Community Mental Health Service (ACMHS) in South West Hertfordshire. We have one role based in Hemel Hempstead and one role based in Watford.

You must hold a full valid driving licence and have access to a car to use regularly for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
* Work with care co-ordinators and 35 - 40 service users, depending on complexity and other responsibilities.
* Carry out drug and alcohol misuse assessment including assessment of personal strengths and recovery capital, and risks.
* Develop recovery plans using a person-centred approach to develop, implement and evaluate needs and strengths-based care plans and risk management plans in partnership with service users, carers and other professionals.
* Provide individual brief assessment one-to-one and group interventions.

Job responsibilities
* Liaise with professionals e.g. GP at start of treatment, at review and discharge.
* Provide evidence-based drug and alcohol interventions in line with guidelines e.g. NICE, CQC, in a variety of settings promoting flexibility and choice for service users.
* Maximise engagement with service users and reduce the risks both to the individual service user and to others affected by their drug and/or alcohol misuse.
* Facilitate service users and carers to be involved in care and treatment.
* Work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring effective communication with other team members and other professionals.
* Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency clinical meetings.
* Receive and participate in clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING
* English and Maths at minimum GCSE or higher (or equivalent).
* Qualification in using Microsoft Office Applications (or demonstrable skill).
* Professional Qualification to degree level or equivalent e.g. Nursing, Social Work or Counselling.
* Substance Misuse Training.
* Training in Motivational Interviewing or other psychosocial interventions.
EXPERIENCE
* Good knowledge and understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.
* Experience of working with clients with physical and/or mental health needs including co-morbidity.
* Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group, e.g. mental health services, criminal justice agencies, community groups, etc.
* Experience of working in an outcomes-focused environment.
* Experience of working in Health or Social Care or relevant sector.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience of providing evidence-based interventions.
* Experience of Recovery Focused interventions.
* Experience of care planning and risk assessment.
* Experience of managing a caseload of drug and alcohol users.
* Good working knowledge of mental health services and good practice.
