Overview
Expleo are looking for a driven, results oriented and solution focused Satellite Systems Engineer to join our rapidly expanding Electronics and Embedded Systems Engineering team for a major UK programme with a Key Client.
Responsibilities
1. Requirements definition and flow down
2. Requirements capture and definition from stakeholder needs through to sub-systems; ownership of traceability and verification.
3. Verification Validation and Test (VV&T) support
4. Ground System level architectural design definition and trade-offs
5. Working with Engineering Leads and Partners to define the segment and associated sub-system architectures via integrated Working Groups
6. Technical proposal inputs
7. Solution Lead for customer and internal governance reviews
8. Technical support to bidding teams
9. Systems Engineering and project management inputs as required - to support planning, schedule and cost activities
10. Inform stakeholders on progress and problem resolution
11. Payload and platform communication design and analysis
12. Link budget and capacity analysis
13. Related satellite resource, process and budgets management
14. Satellite interface definition and management of the communication subsystems
15. Support for satellite Assembly Integration and Test (AIT) activities, Preparation of all related documentation, extensive documentation and configuration control is very important in every stage of development processes.
16. System Test and Commissioning
17. Support to the new service design process
18. Specifying, purchasing and testing of VSAT terminals, to support the delivery of new services
Qualifications
1. You'll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience; a background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial for the roles we are looking to fill.
2. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don't hold formal qualification
3. At least 10 years of experience Design, analysis and test of RF systems
4. Experience in satellite communication and High Throughput Satellites
5. Experience with RF equipment (telemetry transmitter, telecommand receiver, amplifiers, filters, frequency converters etc.)
6. Experience on Satellite Platform communication protocols
7. Experience on Link budget and capacity analysis, system optimization
8. Knowledge of system modelling and analysis with tools like MATLAB, Microwave Studio-CST, SatSoft, SatMaster or equivalent.
9. Experience in technology-based projects in multinational environments.
10. High competence in teamwork, excellence in organization and communication skills. Suitable for flexible working hours, high stress management skills
Essential skills
1. Previous experience in the design of satellite systems
2. Previous experience with satellite network operators
3. Current knowledge of RF and IF architecture and best design practice
4. Satellite network system design experience
5. Able to calculate link budgets for complex SATCOM Systems
Desired skills
1. Experience with the MILSATCOM domain but not essential.
2. Experience with Skynet 5/6
3. Experience in the design of military communication systems
4. Knowledge of satellite ranging techniques
5. Experience working across complete engineering life-cycle

What do I need before I apply
This role may require security clearance up to SC level and our offer of employment will be dependent on obtaining the appropriate level of clearance.
