POSITION DESCRIPTION
This role provides medical care, promotes health education, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for both boarding and day students. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, a strong sense of empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively within a school community. Liaising with the Associate Director of Health Services based on the Buckhead campus the SSC Nurse will design and maintain effective campus operating systems to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the medical care of students.
We are open to talking to candidates interested in both a 10 or a 12 month position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Clinical Duties
Organize and run surgeries for students for routine medication, advice and nursing needs.
Manage students with chronic illness (ex. diabetes) and implement plans with regards to their long term care.
Work closely with staff regarding dietary intolerances or allergies.
Staff school clinic for middle school and high school ages: attending to injuries, assessing medical complaints of students, assessing minor injuries and delivering first aid treatment administering medication per parental instruction/permission, and determining if and when a student requires further medical attention
Collect and administer students’ daily medications and complete documentation required for safe administration of medications.
Maintain current medical records.
Maintain up-to-date immunization records as required by the states of GA - this could include assisting students /families in getting these immunizations.
Work with counseling and administrative / residential staff to deal with students’ health-related needs.
Keep inventory for the school clinic.
Maintain and stock first aid kits in the boarding houses and on campus.
Support school trip coordinators with risk assessment, first aid kits and advise on students with medical need care.
Provide training where relevant and appropriate to school staff ex. Anaphylaxis
Boarding Student Specific Support (developing role)
Make medical appointments for boarding students to attend any medical, dental, wellness visits, physical therapy etc. or other health appointments as necessary.
Coordinate transportation of boarding students for off-site medical appointments
Be available to advise on after-hours medical concerns (on-call duties as needed).
Assist with the transition and adjustment of boarding students, ensuring they feel supported in their well-being.
Provide guidance and support for dorm staff regarding student health needs.
Plan for, advise and evaluate on the care of unwell boarders who are being looked after in then student accommodation.
Advise and train staff on proper protocols for after hours drug administration.
Preventative Health
Operate procedures for infectious disease control.
Be up to date in the recommended storage, usage and disposal or medical supplies, drugs and inform staff of latest changes and protocol.
Health Education
Promote Health Education throughout campus and where appropriate be a support to educational sessions for students (ex. As part of the PSHE or advisory program).
Internal and External Liaison
Maintain a close working relationship with the local medical urgent care, medical office and pharmacy.
Support any student in emotional or personal crisis, referring and liaising with other coworkers (Counselor, Advisor, Principal Director of Residential Life) as appropriate.
Liaise with parents and guardians as required in order to ensure accurate, up to date medical information is shared between home and school.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Bachelor's of Nursing degree (or higher) and current GA nursing license
CPR (with AED) certification
Good independent decision and triage skills and the ability to work with school staff/faculty
Experience in data collection & organization of health forms
Professional attitude and appearance
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in working with differing cultural perspectives and health practices.
Understanding of HIPPA and FERPA laws and confidentiality, as it pertains to school clinics.
Must be able to walk on campus, up/down stairs, and across uneven surfaces.
Must be able to perform emergency care, if necessary, on the floor, in the hallways or tight spaces.
