The role
The Utilities Engineering Technician in Tredegar (full-time, two shifts: mornings/afternoons) is responsible for maintaining and repairing site utilities, including HVAC, electrical, water, and safety systems, ensuring compliance with GMP standards. They provide technical support for quality issues, conduct planned preventative maintenance, and respond to facility breakdowns to minimise downtime. The role involves liaising with internal teams and third-party contractors to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of critical site services.
Requirements
1. To work within the Engineering department to provide technical guidance and expertise in the resolution of quality issues.
2. To install and maintain the site services in a new or existing building across all of the PCI Tredegar sites in accordance with the Engineering PPM System. These services include however, are not limited to, all equipment and materials involved with heating, lighting, ventilation (HVAC), air-conditioning, electrical distribution, water supply, steam/boiler systems, sanitation, public health, fire protection, safety systems, lifts and escalators as well as all facility and utility related services.
3. To support the Engineering Departments in ensuring that all Engineering activities on the Tredegar site are completed and undertaken in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice standards in accordance with company policies to meet business requirements.
4. To promptly attend Facility and Utility breakdowns, practices systematic fault diagnosis and repairs in optimum time, ensuring minimum downtime and product loss.
5. Responsible for the maintenance and services of all equipment and materials involved with however, not limited to heating, lighting, ventilation (HVAC), air-conditioning, electrical distribution, water supply, steam/boiler systems, sanitation, public health, fire protection, safety systems, lifts and escalators as well as all facility and utility related services.
6. Undertake the maintenance and repair of plant and/or office facilities and associated utilities at the PCI Tredegar sites.
7. Fully contributing to planned preventative maintenance programs whilst adhering to SOP’s and completing necessary documentation ensuring skilled judgements are made to ensure plant is maintained to optimum level.
8. Monitor performance of critical utilities and process equipment in cGMP environment and perform or arrange necessary repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and preventative maintenance, including maintaining appropriate documentation.
9. Liaise with onsite departments to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns.
10. Liaise with third party contractors in order to arrange for planned preventative maintenance / rectification work required for breakdowns and to then ensure the prompt return of associated reports.
Qualifications:
1. Understanding of Health and Safety related to Engineering activities.
2. Understanding of GMP is desirable.
3. Experience in a relevant industrial environment.
4. Degree qualification in relevant engineering degree (ideally mechanical).
5. Previous experience in Engineering function (ideally pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environment covering mechanical, electrical or utilities).
6. Attention to detail.
7. Working knowledge installing and repairing heating, lighting, ventilation (HVAC), air-conditioning, electrical distribution, water supply, steam/boiler systems, sanitation, public health, fire protection, safety systems, lifts and escalators as well as all facility and utility related services.
