Job Title: Project Technician
Full time 40 hours per week
Permanent
Salary – up to £37,813 per annum depending on experience
Location – Mobile Worker Suffolk
About the role
The Integrated Delivery Services (IDS) function has recently taken over the delivery of new service connections. This brings all Developer Measure of Experience (DMeX) construction activities under the same team for delivery. Working alongside teams within IDS and delivery partners, Project Technicians are required to support the delivery of new service connections as well as the delivery of all the existing works streams such as: Lead replacement programme, new mains, infrastructure maintenance and growth projects amongst others.
The role requires the successful candidate to drive the timely and safe delivery of activities. The Project Technician will attend developer appointments, provide in-field advice, assist quote activities, approve critical Water Regulation trench inspections before the scheme is released, and oversee the completion of the construction and connection, providing a great service to the Developer.
The postholder will monitor the quality of the workmanship, compliance with Water Regulations and enforce the high standards expected around the delivery on new water assets. The Project Technician will initiate the co-ordination planning or interruption to supply process, working with the Water Networks team, to ensure no issues arise once the scheme is planned in.
Key to the role will be ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with risk assessments and method statements and being a visible presence across all our construction sites. Site meetings with developers, estates, customers and our contractor are expected and therefore excellent organisational and communication skills are required.
About you
You’ll have proven water network experience, ensuring best practice is followed in all construction works impacting the network. Water Regulation experience would be advantageous along with knowledge of Northumbrian Water network design standards and service connection procedures. Customer service is essential for this role.
Furthermore, excellent customer service experience is expected with a proven ability to build relationships with customers, developers, colleagues and key stakeholders for the successful delivery of service connections, new mains and infrastructure renewal projects. In addition to this, you will ensure that progress updates are reported to the Project Manager based on the project activity, and you will be expected to also report any identified project risks that may impede the project operation.
You will need to be flexible to accommodate developer and customer requests whilst ensuring delivery within DMEX and CMEX regulatory timescales. A proactive, can-do attitude is a pre-requisite to ensure we deliver the best service to customers, developers and other stakeholders across the business. The ability to problem solve to ensure work can be delivered safely and on time is also a required attribute.
Full training would be given to the right candidate. An understanding and appreciation of DMEX and CMEX would also be desirable.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.
