We proudly support hybrid working; however, candidates will be expected to travel to our Manchester office several days a week.
The Role
The role could see you working as an electrical designer in a large project team or being a project engineer on smaller schemes. You will be working on some of the most technically challenging projects in our portfolio - recent examples include the BASE Building at Manchester Science Park and Space Studios in Liverpool.
Key Duties:
This role will see you technically and creatively challenged on some of the most interesting developments in the Northwest and further afield. Teamwork and a collaborative approach are key to any project at Buro Happold, so your strong communication skills and passion to succeed with others will serve you well. This key role will have a variety of day-to-day responsibilities including:
1. Lead the electrical team and take a project leadership role as required.
2. Communicate directly with clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations.
3. Further develop relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects, and developers.
4. Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work.
5. Manage the workload of engineers and technicians.
6. Prepare technical specifications.
7. Monitor financial performance of jobs and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.
Your Skills and Experience
As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate:
1. Extensive electrical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as project leader.
2. Diverse sector experience, ideally with large-scale project experience.
3. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects, and other team members.
4. Bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering.
5. Professionally registered with a relevant institution; CIBSE, IET, etc.
6. Although electrically biased, it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines.
7. Proficiency in the use of Revit would be preferable; however, a willingness to undertake training is essential.
