A fantastic opportunity has arisen at our busy nursery. We are looking for a qualified practitioner with a minimum level 3 childcare qualification to join our strong and outstanding team. The role requires a strong but calm individual to step up and deputise in the manager's absence. The role is room-based with the children, so the ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of the EYFS framework, but will lead the nursery from the manager's desk when on duty. It is also a key holder's position, so opening and locking the nursery when the shift requires it. There will be handling of money and managing bookings. Your role as Deputy Manager will include:
1. Promoting positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
2. Ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing of the children at all times.
3. Managing the smooth running of the nursery.
4. Leading the staff team to deliver high-quality practice within the nursery.
5. Business Management duties including finances and parent enquiries.
6. Providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children in the setting.
7. Supporting staff within the setting.
8. Working as part of a team to provide an enabling environment for all individual children to play, develop, and learn.
9. Building and maintaining strong partnership working with parents to enable children's needs to be met.
10. Delivering the EYFS effectively, ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members).
11. Supporting all staff and engaging in a good staff team.
12. Developing and maintaining strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs.
13. Ensuring the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures, and medical histories.
14. Advising manager/deputies of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality if necessary.
15. Being involved in out-of-working-hours activities, e.g., training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, etc.
16. Being flexible within working practices of the setting, undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment, etc.
17. Working alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the setting's philosophy is fulfilled.
18. Reading, understanding, and adhering to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
19. Developing your role within the team, especially with regard to being a key person.
20. Keeping completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families, or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
21. Being aware of the high profile of the setting and upholding its standards at all times, both in work hours and outside.
22. Supporting nursery assistants, students, and volunteers.
23. Ensuring good standards of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness are maintained at all times.
