At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. The successful applicant will work within the Test Department of GKN Filton providing a Non Destructive Test (NDT) service to the Manufacturing and Design & Engineering functions.
How You'll Contribute
1. Approving and supervising PFD Level 2’s and trainees
2. Reviewing and approving Procedures, Instruction and Techniques
3. Performing tests on various types of aircraft, and non-aircraft, materials, components and structures
4. Undertaking investigations on and into NDT related problems or issues
5. Auditing of NDT Suppliers, including monitoring their accreditations, Nadcap etc.
6. Reporting on NDT matters
7. Supervising and, if necessary, training all levels of NDT resource
8. Creating, reviewing and approving NDT Procedures, Instructions & Techniques
9. Ensuring all relevant procedures, Instructions and Techniques are complied with
10. Performing NDT Inspections
11. Provide reports on NDT matters as required
12. Communication with Customers and Suppliers as required
13. Compliance with all Health & Safety requirements
What You'll Bring
The successful applicant must be Qualified to EN 4179 Level 3 in PFD. In addition to this, it would be desirable to possess:
* Knowledge of material specifications and their associated testing criterion
* Capable of producing concise reports
* Conversant with Microsoft Office IT Process’
* Verbally proficient to discuss NDT and related matters with all levels of staff
