The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of the service and will share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management. He/she will be expected to participate in the health authoritys system of governance, and audit and maintain their CME/CPD. He/she will also have a commitment to participate in the health authoritys professional development. The appointee will be expected to observe the health authoritys agreed policies and procedure, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters, and to follow the standing orders and financial instructions of the GHA. The consultant appointed will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and for the proper functioning of his/her department. He/she will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of his/her patients and the running of his/her clinical department. Teaching and Research Undergraduate medical students from different countries come to Gibraltar for their electives. There is active library facility with regular educational meetings planned throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake research in their chosen field of expertise. CLINICAL GOVERNANCE The successful candidate will be expected to take part in the organisation of audit activity in the department and take an active part in the continuing development of our Clinical Governance strategy. The appointee will be expected to participate in CPD activities and participate in appraisal and revalidation as required. The successful candidate will also fulfill any other duties as directed by the Medical Director of the Gibraltar Health Authority.
