National Grid is hiring a Leadership Development Manager to join the Performance and Development team to lead on the development and delivery of solutions for our Strategic Leadership Group (SLG).
As a Leadership Development Manager, you will be highly experienced in leadership development best practice as well as event planning and management.

The role requires an individual who can work with overlapping complexities, differing geographical requirements, and a future-fit approach to performance and development.
This role will be based from our London office (located at the Strand) and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home.
Key Accountabilities
1. Take the lead for the strategy, design, development and deployment of all development for the Senior Leadership Group (SLG).
2. Work with the Global Talent Manager to help inform the Executive Committee talent discussions, providing key insights and supporting with the preparation for key talent and leadership meetings.
3. Conduct research and analysis and prepare best practice guidance on talent and leadership projects and processes.
4. Collaborate with HR teams and leaders to provide analysis and guidance on leadership solutions for the Strategic Leadership Group around each of our SLG essentials.
5. Working with Executive teams and CPOs to identify talented senior leaders, create scenarios and support in managing their moves and create robust development plans where needed.
6. Work in partnership with People Partners and managers to ensure newly recruited or promoted leaders and those transitioning into key positions are supported in doing so to accelerate their performance.
7. You will be responsible for designing the strategy and roll out of a new suite of development solutions aligned to our ‘SLG Essentials Framework’, which will require you to have expert knowledge of best practice development, excellent knowledge of a range of learning providers and have innovative thinking in how best to deliver learning and development solutions for our most senior leaders.
8. Stakeholder Management at all levels of the organisation and with external learning providers and partners.
9. Comms & Branding - Lead on designing and producing comms for all elements of SLG Essentials.
10. Event Planning - Leading the planning and organisation of all SLG learning interventions.
11. Finances and Invoicing – managing the budget for all SLG development, keeping meticulous records to ensure colleagues receive excellent value and to ensure that we can cross-charge efficiently.
About you
1. Expert knowledge of Learning and Development solutions, with experience in programme design and facilitation.
2. Proven experience within business environments working with the most senior levels of the organisation and senior stakeholders.
3. Strong experience within a HR environment.
4. Big-picture focus coupled with a strong attention to detail.
5. You’ll be a natural energiser who can bring groups together and lead calls, conversations and discussions.
6. Strong communicator, able to listen critically and translate complex ideas for a wide range of stakeholders, combined with an ability to work well with others and build relationships across the team, the People function and the business, and a willingness to both give and receive constructive feedback.
7. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
8. Proactivity and tenacity.
9. Strong customer-service focus throughout all work activities, building credibility to be seen to be delivering as a trusted partner to all stakeholders.
10. A strong interest in leadership development to be able to lean in and join the dots with emergent knowledge/challenges/opportunities and raise these with the key programme stakeholders as required.
11. A learning mind-set, with a willingness to ‘muck in’ on multiple topics across the talent sphere and a comfort with working in rapidly changing environments with short turnaround schedules.
12. Demonstrated problem-solving experience.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £66,000 - £82,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
