Our Place School is a small Independent Special School, approved to educate children with Special Educational Needs and Difficulties (SEND), aged from 8 years up to the age of 19. The school sits within its own grounds, within a rural location and has attached to it a forest school. The children on roll at the school are all individually assessed to ensure that as a school we are able to meet their individual needs. The pupils at Our Place School are at the heart of all we do, and their individual needs are built around a bespoke curriculum to help them to meet their aims and aspirations whilst feeling safe and valued within our school community.
All of our students have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). We aim to assist our students in their preparation for adulthood, building confidence and independence alongside academic success, building their self-esteem, and providing new opportunities along the way.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Headteacher to join our multi-disciplinary team at Our Place. The successful applicant will be expected to manage a large team of professional staff. We are looking for a Headteacher who will provide leadership and effectively use management systems and processes to ensure that the school meets its regulatory requirements as well as meeting the school’s aims and objectives.
About the role
We are looking for a Headteacher whose focus on the delivery of clearly structured learning provided within a creative manner, ensuring our pupils educational needs are met and maximizing their achievements based on individual needs. The Headteacher will be expected to work in partnership with other agencies and must be able to show their ability to implement and use management tools to evidence the school’s progress, as well as the staff team’s development and able to identify areas of improvement.
As Headteacher you will be supported by a Central function which includes, finance, HR, IT and health and safety.
Essential Knowledge, Experience Skills and Qualifications
· Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent e.g. QTLS
· Working towards or currently holding NPQSL / NPQH
· Currently an outstanding and experienced leader, resilient and solution focused
· SEN experience
· Knowledge of curriculum appropriate for students with SLD and/or ASD
· Knowledge of National Curriculum and assessment for students with SEND
· Experience with statutory requirements of legislation concerning SEN code of
Practice, Safeguarding Children, Health and Safety
· Ability to work constructively and collaboratively as part of the management team
within the company
· Ability to lead, support, motivate and inspire staff
· Ability to foster productive working relationships with all internal and external
agencies, parents and carers
· Highly effective report writing skills and data analysis
· Experienced in managing a staff team including performance management
· Experienced in managing a budget
· Good knowledge of safeguarding procedures and regulatory body requirements
