Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at West Hertfordshire teaching Hospitals as a Band 7 Specialist Midwife for Audit and are looking for an organised and passionate Midwife who can lead audits, write and review guidelines, teach, provide written reports and is confident in providing constructive feedback and learning.
As the Audit and Guidelines Midwife, you will focus on using a variety of tools and techniques to assess the effectiveness of care within the maternity department. You will be expected to support the development and implementation of a robust system of auditing within the Maternity Services and will co-ordinate the development and updating of all guidelines within the maternity department.
You will be responsible for presenting your findings to a wide variety of clinicians and then creating, implementing and managing action plans agreed upon as a result of an audit. Following this, you will be responsible for assessing whether the changes you have helped to deliver have led to an improvement in patient care or experience.

The Audit and Guidelines Midwife will be responsible for ensuring the co-ordination of evidence based guidelines (including SOPS, LOCSIPS and patient information leaflets) and will support the clinical audit post holder will provide support and promote clinical audit and quality improvement, which is relevant to the maternity department.
The post holder will contribute to creating a learning environment in the department acting as role model and mentor to less experienced midwives, student midwives and other staff.

Education and qualifications
Essential
1. Registered Midwife with current NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration.
2. Relevant Degree or evidence of further study and experience to the equivalent.
3. Up to date professional portfolio demonstrating evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
4. Evidence of a leadership/management course or equivalent
Desirable
5. Master's qualification or equivalent knowledge.
