I am currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer for a fintech startup that's been making waves for the last four years, and thanks to recent funding rounds and private investment, they're entering an exciting new phase of growth. This platform leverages cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative financial solutions for content creators, and now, we're ready to unlock the full potential of data and machine learning. Your Role As the Founding Principal Engineer, you'll be at the heart of their data-driven strategy. You'll have the autonomy to shape the role and influence the direction of the business while working across the entire data lifecycle. From building robust data platforms to deploying machine learning models, your work will have a direct impact on the product and customer experience. The perfect candidate would be a self-starter with a passion for data and a desire to make a real impact in a startup environment. You'll thrive on wearing many hats and rolling up your sleeves to tackle new challenges. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable, efficient data pipelines and platforms using GCP. Apply machine learning to existing models and develop new ones as their data grows. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and business stakeholders, to identify and solve data challenges. Establish best practices for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning within the company. Develop and iterate on prototypes and MVPs to test and validate models. Be a pioneer of data innovation in the fintech space, mentoring others as the team grows. Essential Skills & Experience: BSc, MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. Strong background in data engineering and machine learning engineering. Proficiency in Python and experience with Django. Expertise in GCP, AWS or Azure. Strong data visualization skills, with experience in Matplotlib (or similar). A track record of building scalable data pipelines and deploying machine learning models. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Nice to have: Previous experience in fintech or startup environments. Knowledge of financial modeling or analytics. A genuine passion for innovation and technology. The role is offer a Competitive Salary: Up to £95,000 per annum, plus a share in the business in the form of equity. The role is Hybrid so you can work remotely with occasional travel to Norwich (once or twice a month).
