Fleet Maintenance & Compliance Manager
Location: Barnsley Based
Salary: Competitive Salary, Profit Share Bonus and Company Car
Holiday: 33 days holiday per year including statutory bank holidays
Hours of Work:
Monday – Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00 (45 minutes lunch)
Friday: 08:30 – 16:00 (1 hour lunch)
You must be flexible as you will be required to be available for drivers out of the standard working hours.
To be successful in this role you must:
1. Hold a full UK driving licence
2. Have at least 3.5 hours (minimum) CPC
3. Management experience within a fleet and engineering department
4. Have experience in compliance management
5. Have basic knowledge of the requirements of FORS
6. Have experience with Transport systems such as Tachomaster, TMS, 3rd Party Service Systems such as DAF Check/Truckfile
Role Overview:
We are looking to recruit a Fleet Maintenance and Compliance Manager to join our client’s existing Transport team at their Barnsley site. This is the ideal opportunity for someone with existing transport and mechanical experience who is looking for a new challenge. In this role, you will provide expert advice and guidance on legal compliance for the Transport Department, overseeing the management of the company's fleet, which includes 154 trucks, 24 vans, 12 shunters, a snow plough, 90 drawbars, and 13 artic trailers, along with associated equipment. You will ensure that the fleet meets all legal requirements under the Road Traffic Act, EU Regulations, Construction & Use Regulations, and Operator's Licence standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering, monitoring, and maintaining high standards of compliance administration to ensure full Road Transport Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintaining strong relationships with vehicle suppliers and manufacturers
2. Ensuring the vehicles and trailers are roadworthy by managing service providers and ensuring defects, service inspections and MOTs are carried out in accordance with maintenance agreements
3. Ensuring all DVSA compliance standards are always adhered to which includes timely scheduling for PMI, MOTs, drivers’ routine checks and proactive maintenance
4. Investigate any missing mileage from Tachograph reports
5. Monthly reporting on vehicle compliance including PMI, Tacho, MOT/LOLER
6. Managing vehicle accidents and working with the insurer and ensuring all incidents and accidents reported are fully investigated and any necessary actions are taken
7. Ensuring forward planning of MOT and services to ensure fleet availability is not affected
8. Authorising and scrutinising vehicle repairs, invoices and charges and ensuring they are in line with the repair and maintenance agreements in place
9. Assisting in other duties relating to the maintenance and running of the fleet
10. Providing driver technical phone support and guidance
