Job Description
This is a great opportunity for a motivated Live Ops Content Manager to work on not one but two unique and highly successful mobile free-to-play Collectible Card Games. If you have ever wondered who would win if Beowulf and The Big Bang took on Robin Hood and the Triceratops, CUE is the game for you. Or, if you wanted to see what would happen if the Mothman teamed up with the Headless Horseman to take on The Morrigan and Bloody Mary, then the realms of Eerie Worlds await you!
The first of our games is Cards, the Universe and Everything (aka CUE), which has won both Best Education App and Best Indie Game at the UK App Awards. It’s really not like other games; new cards come out every day and we change the rules every week, and all of our content is based on the real world.
Newly added to our roster is Eerie Worlds: A CCG where folklore, myth and legends come to life. Here the monsters are real and their tales become truth right before your eyes. Differing from CUE slightly, cards are released in batches (or Hordes) and there’s an exciting narrative element about to unfold in game, too!
And you are right at the heart of both of these games, as part of the Live Ops team who prepare regular content for each title.
Your role within the Avid Games Live Ops team will be ensuring the smooth operation of the in-game store and release schedule, while also contributing to the communications and messaging of both games. You will coordinate with the team to ensure that all data is present within internal systems from various planning sessions and discussions. (Don’t worry about not knowing these systems yet, that’s what we’re here for!) There will also be scope to work on content ideas, helping our Live Ops Leads to plan and curate content for future releases for both games as well as being able to communicate this content with players.
You are…
* Well-organised with an excellent eye for detail and able to work to deadlines efficiently
* A good communicator, able to work with multiple teams and speak confidently with anyone in the company, be that Senior Management or your peers
* Comfortable learning new technical skills
* A confident team player
* A creative thinker who is willing to share and develop ideas for new content and features
* An excellent copywriter with the ability to adapt to the differing tone of each game (think Monty Python for CUE and Hammer Horror for Eerie Worlds)
* Able to self-motivate when working remotely
* Key Roles & Responsibilities
o Working with QA, Live Ops and Customer Services to ensure content is correct in-game prior to launch, with live corrections when needed (being competent with Photoshop would be a big bonus here too!)
o Writing various forms of in-game and external communications such as daily news, push notifications, in-app messages and newsletters
o Creating, simulating and finalising Card Packs within Airtable
o Using Git and Jenkins to ‘push’ to Production servers (don’t worry, you’ll get training on both of these final points!)
* What do we offer?
We trust each other to get the work done. This means a high degree of flexibility and autonomy for the whole team. We’re all in contact throughout the day though - you won’t feel isolated.
o Competitive salary.
o 22 days holiday plus public holidays.
o Plus an extra day for each year worked.
o Remote-first working.
o Quarterly ‘away days’.These usually involve something a bit different, from retro arcades/VR experiences to zorbing/segways (travel costs are covered).
o Room to grow.
o This is a 6 month contract to cover maternity leave with the possibility of extension at the end of the term.
