Meadowview surgery are looking to recruit a receptionist/administrator to join our friendly team, working up to 24 hours per week, which will be a mix of morning and afternoon shifts. General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience and offers excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
* Answering the telephone, taking messages and passing them on appropriately.
* Manage the reception desk ensuring surgeries run smoothly and efficiently.
* Processing all requests for repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
* Checking patients records and issuing reminders for long term condition reviews/blood tests etc.
* Be able to cover all reception/administration tasks as necessary.
* Typing referral letters/Choose & Book referral letters.
* Process appointment requests by telephone and in person.
* Taking requests for home visits and ensure they are recorded and processed correctly.
* Liase with hospitals, primary health care team, social services, etc.
* Computer data entry updating patient records/working remotely/send digital information to patients and directing patients to digital platforms.
* Open/close the practice as and when necessary ensuring the reception, office and consulting rooms are prepared in readiness for the morning session.
* Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
* Receive patients and visitors courteously and efficiently.
* All staff are required to take their share of providing cover, when necessary for colleagues who may be absent due to holidays or illness. This is a mandatory requirement of the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
Experience
* Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
* Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Experience in a similar customer/patient facing role.
* Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
* Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience.
* Experience in Healthcare setting.
