Are you a Qualified Lawyer who has experience in providing advice on a complex range of property and highways transactions?
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced qualified Lawyer to join our service working within the Property, Highways and Planning Team. Working within a friendly and supportive team, you’ll report directly to the Principal Lawyer (Property, Highways & Planning) and work collaboratively with other Lawyers and occasionally external stakeholders. We offer flexible working, inclusive of home working with dedicated legal support, promoting a healthy work-life balance. This is your chance to make a difference and join a professional, experienced, and friendly team.
As a Qualified Lawyer with experience in Property and Highways, you’ll confidently and competently advise and support the property and highways functions of the Council, including the governance around decision-making, occasionally providing legal advice to the Council as a developer. Dealing primarily with cases within your area of specialism, you’ll develop your own skills and experience whilst working closely with other legal teams and areas.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide secure high-quality legal services, advice on all aspects of property and highways law, and work closely with the Council’s departments to support the Council’s functions. As part of this, you’ll deputise for the Principal Lawyer and, with your learned coaching skills, support junior members of the team to assist with their development and learning. You’ll routinely attend meetings with directors and work with officers from instructing departments as well as with colleagues from across the service. Using your expertise, you’ll provide solutions-focused property and highways law advice and support to the Council and other public bodies.
What you’ll need
As a highly skilled, experienced property lawyer, you’ll have significant knowledge of complex Property transactions and Highways Law and practice. With strong post-qualification experience, you will have the ability to supervise junior lawyers and to work as part of a team to ensure the provision of quality, client-focused, and cost-effective legal services. Using strong communication skills, you’ll build and manage external relationships with clients, carrying through assigned tasks and matters to conclusion. Pragmatic in your advice, talented, and proactive, you’ll work effectively with client departments to find solutions.
What we can offer you
As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and the option of flexible working.
