Band: 2/3 £23,615 - £25,674 Per annum, pro rata if part time
Hours: Fixed term contract, Part time, 34.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
This is an exciting time to join our amazing team in Children’s Services as we are working on the project to expand our services and building a NEW Children’s Hospital, which will bring opportunities for career development in different areas (including specialist care). We welcome enthusiastic, caring and motivated leaders to join our team of nurses to provide dynamic, high quality family centred nursing care to children, young people and babies.
This role will require someone who really wants to develop in a very supportive environment. You will need to be competent, caring, courageous, and compassionate, with the proven ability to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their commitment to continuously developing professionally whilst supporting junior colleagues in an acute clinical environment.

Support for your educational needs to ensure your continued development, through access to relevant courses and support from our dedicated Paediatric Practice Development team.
The children services consist of the following:
Ward 4: Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU)
Ward 4 is open 24 hours a day, has 16 PAU beds that flexes capacity to meet the ever-changing needs of our children. We offer access to expert, evidence based and family centred assessment, treatment, and care. The unit also includes the Paediatric Day Care Unit, delivering planned care.
Paediatric Day Surgery Unit
6 bedding area open Monday to Friday, specific for day surgery cases, including dental, urology ENT, T&O, and ophthalmology. Supported by ward 4 senior staff, we provide care to children all ages, from pre-op assessment, supporting children and families from admission to discharge.
Ward 5
Is an Inpatient ward with 22 bed spaces offering Medical, Surgical, Oncology and Orthopaedic care for 0–16-year-olds.
The Ward offers every opportunity for the successful applicant to succeed and develop, providing the necessary training courses, which provide the skills and competencies to care for children requiring high dependency nursing.
Paediatric Outpatients
Delivers specialist clinics for children that require long, and short term follow up of care.
We also work very closely with Neonatal Unit and our Children’s Emergency Department, which is part of the emergency medicine division.
We are continuously looking at new ways in which we ensure patient experience is pivotal within the care we provide and are exploring initiative developments to take this forward.

Establish and maintain an open and sensitive communicative manner with children, relatives and staff.
Assist the staff to keep the ward environment clean and tidy. To include the cleaning and re-stocking of cupboards, sluice, clean utility room, storerooms, treatment rooms.
Perform tasks as may be considered relevant by senior sister / Nurse in charge
Comply with all Trust policies and procedures
Escort/chaperone parents and children as directed by nursing or medical staff
