Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Building Safety Act Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will ensure our clients buildings comply with the latest regulatory requirements under the UK Building Safety Act. You will advise on, implement, and monitor safety strategies across our clients property portfolios, playing a critical role in maintaining compliance and enhancing safety measures. You will also be required to deliver training on the BSA to decision makers across our client base. This position is ideal for someone with experience in building compliance, safety regulations, and a strong understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022.
This role will involve travel across the North of England.
Key Responsibilities
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all properties adhere to the requirements of the Building Safety Act, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all legislative changes and implementing necessary adjustments to internal policies and procedures.
* Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments of high-rise residential and other relevant buildings, identifying and addressing potential safety hazards in compliance with the Building Safety Act.
* Safety Case Management: Develop, document, and maintain safety cases, ensuring each building has a clear, evidence-based safety case report in line with regulatory requirements.
* Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for building safety matters,
* Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and continual improvement of safety policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with building safety regulations.
* Training & Guidance: Provide guidance and training on compliance responsibilities under the Building Safety Act, helping to foster a culture of safety.
* Incident Management: Respond to safety incidents or concerns as they arise, coordinating investigations and implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain safety standards.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, risk assessments, safety case reviews, and incident reports, and provide regular updates to senior management.
Qualifications and Skills
* Educational Background: Degree in a relevant field such as Building Surveying, Construction Management, or Health & Safety. Additional certifications in Fire Safety or Building Safety are desirable.
* Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a safety, compliance, or regulatory role within the built environment, preferably with direct experience working with high-rise residential or complex building structures.
* Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022, the Fire Safety Order, and other related regulations and standards affecting building safety in the UK.
* Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex safety and compliance information clearly to diverse audiences.
* Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and interpret safety data, conduct risk assessments, and identify trends.
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all safety documentation and policies are accurate and compliant.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Proactive approach to identifying, analyzing, and resolving safety issues.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in using software related to safety management, data analysis, and documentation.
