HR and Business Support Manager at Avoira Limited
Avoira Ltd is a UK wide communications company providing a wide range of services to a variety of customers. Based at our Bury office, a position exists for a Senior Systems Engineer in our Radio department complementing our engineering team and providing additional skill and resource to an ever-expanding product & customer base. The successful applicant will be involved with all aspects of system design, delivery, and maintenance for Avoira radio.
Responsibilities
1. Assist with pre-sales support including system surveys, system design, specification, and documentation.
2. Design, installation, and commissioning of all aspects of PMR, DMR, telemetry radio & microwave infrastructure.
3. Supporting and maintaining Motorola radio systems.
4. Liaise with customers in respect of system reporting, performance, and maintenance issues.
5. Diagnosis and repair of a range of radio equipment, from hand portables to installed base stations.
6. Carry out full diagnostic test of radio equipment by utilising a range of bench and portable test equipment.
7. Prepare suitable and sufficient H&S documentation to meet customer requirements.
8. Maintain standards of technical excellence within the department.
9. Ensure a full understanding of products and services are cascaded through the organisation.
10. Contribute to bid support and evaluation.
11. Support and coach other members of the team.
12. Participation on the standby rotas in the region.
13. Ensure a right first-time approach is mandated in the department. Ensure all documentation is completed and returned in a timely manner.
14. Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.
15. Actively seek and exploit earning opportunities for the company.
16. Any other reasonable duties and responsibilities considered appropriate by the management of the company.
Minimum Requirements
1. At least 5 years’ experience of the two-way radio communications industry including Motorola PMR, DMR, Tetra, Radio Telemetry or Microwave Systems.
2. Knowledge, experience & understanding of IP based technologies including routing, switching and VoIP.
3. Experience of Distributed Antenna Systems, both Active and Passive, VHF, UHF, Cellular.
4. Detection and resolution of RF interference & intermodulation.
5. Cell Enhancer utilisation, commissioning and methods of limiting RF pollution.
6. EMF testing, calculations, and measurement to ICNIRP guidelines for OFCOM compliance.
7. Proven experience of project design and management.
8. Competent to produce H&S documentation.
9. Able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
10. Able to work under own initiative to deadlines.
11. Able to work away from home.
12. Ability to work as part of the existing team, also display high degree of autonomy.
13. Willing to undergo security assessment/vetting.
14. Good written and verbal communications skills.
15. Full UK driving licence.
16. Experience of LV electrical systems installation & maintenance.
17. Control & Automation/SCADA.
18. Trbonet / Windows Server / SQL Server proficiency.
19. RF over Fibre experience, system design, and commissioning.
20. Able to work to component level.
21. CCNA trained.
22. PASMA trained.
23. Confined space trained.
24. CSCS/EUSR/SHEA trained holding a current certification.
Qualifications
1. HNC Electrical/Electronics or equivalent experience.
