Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm Basildon, Essex We are looking for a Caretaker to play a key role in keeping our schemes safe, well-maintained, and welcoming. Sadly, many people face homelessness and housing problems today. That’s why we provide specialist homes and support for people who are going through a difficult time—whether they’re experiencing homelessness, substance misuse, isolation, or mental ill health. We aim to help people get back on their feet for the long term by putting a roof over their heads and helping them take control of their lives. As our Caretaker, you'll be responsible for light maintenance, cleaning, and gardening, ensuring that communal areas are well presented and in good repair. You'll carry out minor repairs, monitor contracted services, and complete essential health and safety checks. This role requires someone who is organised, reliable, and confident in working independently while also engaging positively with residents and colleagues. You'll also provide caretaker cover at other schemes when needed, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential. What we’re looking for: Do you have a UK driver's licence and access to a vehicle? Do you have experience carrying out minor maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, decorating, and general DIY repairs? Are you proficient in basic IT skills, including email, reporting systems, and using mobile devices for work purposes? This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, a UK driver’s licence, and access to a vehicle to travel between different schemes when needed. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, full time.
