GCC is looking for candidates who want to take the next step in their technical career as an Application Engineer with our 100% employee-owned company. GCC has offices in Tampa, Seattle, and Portland, providing motion control solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrically powered applications. Our northwest division specializes in hydraulic solutions for the aerospace, machine tool, forestry, and marine industries. As an Application Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting sales and engineering teams through your technical expertise. You will collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to deliver tailored solutions for Fluid Power or Industrial/Mobile Automation applications. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities:
* Hydraulic Systems Design: Develop, design, and optimize hydraulic circuits to meet customer-specific requirements.
* Control System Implementation: Design, install, and implement control systems, including electric and hydraulic motors, pumps, sensors, and hardware that interface with PLCs and HMIs.
* Electric and Hybrid Systems: Configure and apply electric and hybrid electric drivetrain systems for off-highway, marine, and other applications.
* Power Systems Integration: Select, apply, and configure hydraulic and power systems to integrate with electric and hybrid drivetrains.
* Project Support: Provide accurate quotations, timelines, and project estimates for sales teams to deliver to customers.
* Manufacturing Partner Collaboration: Build relationships with key manufacturer partners to enhance product understanding and develop modifications to meet customer technology needs.
* Technical Support: Solve technical problems for systems in the field and support new customer projects through start-up and commissioning.
* Training and Development: Organize, coordinate, and conduct electrification training sessions for account managers and sales teams.
* Customer Engagement: Serve as a technical sales asset by joining account managers on customer visits and developing relationships with customers, manufacturer partners, and consultants.
* Project Coordination: Assist in project management tasks such as procurement, shipping, inventory management, and record-keeping to ensure timely delivery.
* ISO 9001 Compliance: Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program, conforming to ISO 9001 requirements.
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Training:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering required.
* Certified Fluid Power Specialist (CFPS) certification is highly preferred.
Experience:
* 3-5 years of engineering experience, ideally in fluid power or industrial automation.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 environments is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, Sales, and senior management.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with customers and address technical challenges.
* Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical specifications, reports, and legal documents.
* Skilled in presenting technical information to diverse audiences, including clients, management, and certification authorities.
* Competent in performing engineering calculations within your field of expertise.
* Strong problem-solving skills to navigate unique situations with limited standardization.
* Ability to develop and document comprehensive plans involving input from multiple teams.
