About the Role
As a Social Care Assistant at Surrey, you will often be the first point of contact between the public and the service, gathering initial information and determining the need for further assessment as well as signposting people to other services. You will have frequent direct contact with the public on the phone as well as visiting them in their own home or care setting. We will ensure you are in the best possible position to assess and review the social care needs of our service users and their carers.
You will work in partnership with individuals, their carers, professional staff in other agencies, service providers and Support Brokers to support vulnerable adults and their families to identify and arrange services that meet their needs and promote independence, choice and control. Within the role, you may work with any combination, or all, of the following care groups: older people, people with physical, sensory, cognitive impairments, people with a learning disability and people with mental health problems.
Promoting independence, choice and control is at the heart of this position. This is an exciting opportunity to work with people to maximise their potential for independence.
With the mentoring and support from your experienced colleagues, we will enable you to reach your full potential. Applicants should enjoy working with people and have experience of direct work with the public as part of paid or voluntary work, although they may have limited or no experience of visiting people in their own homes or care settings.

The team is an extremely supportive, friendly bunch! We are also a dynamic team, offering the very best service to our residents. All staff receive regular supervision and there are always experienced staff available to provide advice and guidance. The team sets great store by being responsive and strengths-based in supporting residents to reach a good outcome. The culture is one of nurturing and support, alongside achieving high standards in the work that we do.
