Senior/Principal Safety Consultant - Defence
As a Principal/Senior Safety Consultant, you will be responsible for the delivery of Technical Assurance, safety case, and environmental management services for a wide range of projects, primarily across all the defence domains: land, maritime, air, nuclear, and command and control. Experience of implementing safety and/or environmental management in the defence industry is essential, with experience from other high hazard sectors, such as oil and gas or chemical industry being of interest.
This role is hybrid, with candidates considered from the whole of the South of England, and due to the variety of workload, we will consider Senior, Principal, or Consultant level applicants.
Due to the nature of the work undertaken here at RPS, candidates will be required to undergo the security clearance process.

About The Team:
The RPS Defence team has been a leading provider of technical assurance in defence safety and risk consultancy services to clients in the UK for over 30 years. We provide our core safety and environmental assessment services, including management support and independent audit to both MOD and defence supply chain organisations and some other non-defence, exciting technology-based clients.
What you’ll be doing:
* Developing lasting relationships and frameworks with clients
* Perform safety and/or environmental management support and Independent Safety and/or Environmental Audit across a range of domains
* Lead and mentor junior staff
* Business and service development support
Who we’re looking for:
* Understanding of UK safety regulations and supporting assessment techniques and software tools.
* Understanding of UK Defence Sector.
Core competencies include:
* Hazard identification and analysis
* Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment
* Safety Case and Hazard Log development
* Independent Safety Audit
* Degree held within a STEM subject and working towards Chartership
* Excellent numeracy, report writing, attention to detail, and time management skills
* Self-motivated team player with interpersonal skills
* Enthusiastic and looking to learn new skills
* Ability to multitask and work within budget and deadlines
Because of the nature of the work we undertake, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and is only open to British Citizens (as defined in the British Nationality Act 1981). All selected candidates will also be expected to hold SC or DV clearance.

What happens next?
The selection process is likely to be a two-stage competency and behavioural interview. Initial interview via MS Teams and then if successful, followed by an interview at the office in Basingstoke.
