Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking pharmacy technician to join our pharmacy clinical trials management team. The postholder will provide leadership in maintaining and developing a quality clinical trial service for the pharmacy department in accordance with current UK and EU legislation, NHS frameworks, and Trust policy.
The postholder will work with pharmacy staff, clinicians, researchers, the Trust R&D directorate, and sponsors of clinical research both internal and external to the Trust.
Applicants must have membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council, be ICH GCP accredited, and possess relevant supporting qualifications. Extensive experience within a hospital pharmacy environment including recent experience in clinical trials delivery is essential.
Main duties of the job
* Manage, lead and develop a quality clinical trial service for the pharmacy department, coordinating services across different sections of the pharmacy.
* Plan and organise pharmacy clinical trial activities in accordance with current UK and EU legislation, NHS frameworks and Trust policy.
* Design and implement clinical trial training programmes for pharmacy staff, and assess staff competence.
* Negotiate and agree the provision of pharmacy services and appropriate remuneration for clinical trials.
* Risk assess clinical trial supplies, packaging and labelling to safeguard patients.
* Provide expert knowledge to Investigators and sponsors of clinical research.

Education and Qualifications
* BTEC in pharmaceuticals sciences or equivalent qualification/experience.
* NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Undergraduate degree or evidence of working towards one in a Pharmaceutical / Health and Social care related subject.
* Relevant post-graduate qualification or working towards this.
Experience
* Extensive post qualification experience within a hospital pharmacy environment.
* Recent and relevant experience in clinical trials activities.
* Training in HR legislation, policies and procedures and experience in applying them.
* Staff development and appraisal experience.
* Recruitment and selection experience.
* Team leadership.
* Patient counselling.
* Experience of managing change in complex environments.
* Development of Standard Operating Procedures.
