Castle Employment Group are working in partnership with a Scarborough based company, we are looking for an experienced FLT Counter balance driver. This role offers a very competitive salary of £34,707 per year and will be on a 3 shift pattern. The shifts will be:
1. Week 1: 6am - 14:00
2. Week 2: 14:00 - 22:00
3. Week 3: 22:00 - 06:00am
Job Purpose:
* To support the Despatch team, ensuring service is maintained to the agreed standard and aligns with company values and behaviours at all times.
* To assist the Despatch team to ensure all operational functions are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
* To provide necessary support in the Despatch area or other required areas as needed.
Health & Safety:
* Follow site safety principles and adhere to ISO standards, SOPs, and 5S procedures at all times.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Ensure:
o All drivers visiting the site are aware of and adhere to the site safety rules. Report any issues appropriately.
o Monthly observational safety walks are completed as directed by the Lead Forklift Driver.
o Recommended health and safety processes are followed at all times.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Assist in operations covering all material movements, including:
o Production take-off
o Inbound
o Putaway
o Loading & unloading
o Tranship from external customers
o Returns
Specific Tasks:
* Complete handover from the previous shift, ensuring all relevant information on vehicle loading and operational concerns is communicated.
* Ensure incoming loads are booked onto the system, scanned correctly, and stored appropriately.
* Check product integrity for received, produced, returned, or despatched items. Report any discrepancies found.
* Supervise vehicles safely onto loading/unloading bays, ensuring drivers' keys are handed in before proceeding.
* Inspect vehicle and trailer integrity before loading/unloading and report any damage. Document issues on the driver's delivery notes and email relevant teams with supporting photos.
* Conduct pre-inspections on clamp and forklift trucks, filling in inspection tickets for each truck. Remove faulty trucks from service.
* Perform other associated tasks as required and reasonable requests to work in other areas.
* Liaise with the Despatch office regarding product or vehicle concerns.
* Maintain clear packing lines and ensure pallet labels are scanned and recorded correctly.
* Return incorrectly packed reels or pallets to the Packing team for correction.
* Scan all reels and pallets before safely loading and securing them with ratchet straps as required.
* Verify load paperwork, ensuring correct certifications are included before filing and reporting discrepancies to the Lead Forklift Driver or Despatch Team Leader.
* Address housekeeping issues, including those identified during 5S audits.
* Refuel forklifts and clamp trucks when required.
* Supervise containers onto loading bays, ensuring drivers' keys are handed in before loading begins.
* Complete trailer check sheets, document any damage, and have drivers confirm findings before informing the Lead Forklift Driver or Despatch Team Leader. Only load if deemed safe.
* Print paperwork for any loads as required during periods when office staff are unavailable.
* Sign for deliveries such as cores or pallets.
