As a Locum Sonographer, you will:
1. To demonstrate skills in a wide range of ultrasound examinations
2. To maintain professional occupational standards of technical skill and legally take responsibility to ensure a high standard of clinical care and patient welfare for all patients, supporting more junior staff to do likewise.
3. To interpret and analyse findings in accordance with agreed protocols.
4. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients in working area, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
5. To independently provide a diagnostic report on all examinations.
6. To provide advice on future patient management, where appropriate following consultation with Radiologists, e.g. referral for further imaging, referral for specialist, urgent/immediate referral.
7. Demonstrate excellence in one or more sub-specialities, when required.
8. To be responsible for the care of equipment and accessories.
9. To participate in the Quality Assurance Programme in accordance with the policies of the department.
10. Generate clear and concise reports for referring clinicians.
11. Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, providing reassurance and information.
