Job Duties
Norfolk State University welcomes applicants for our Success Coach. This position is to provide holistic student support, assistance navigating through college, and promote student success through an array of retention initiatives.
Repsonsibilites are to include:
1. Keeping track of and reports on funding, use of funds, project development and program outcomes Coordinating and participating in program evaluation and using the results to improve program outcomes.
2. Coordinating and participating in program evaluation and using the results to improve program outcomes.
3. Partnering with PLSSSC staff and professional advisors to ensure integration with university operations and university retention effors to edsure academic success.
4. Partnering with a variety of stakeholders to support student success initiatives.
5. Provide proactive, intrusive supplemental support and advising targeted population.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Considerable years of program coordination in a college or university setting.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and assess programs and events.
3. Experience working in a higher education environment.
4. Working knowledge of retention initiatives and practices.
5. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work with and interact effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty. and staff.
7. Demonstrated computer skills, e.g., the ability to conduct internet research and word processing and utilize database software.
8. Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the position including the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). 9. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with initiative.
