We have a remarkable opportunity for a visionary self-starter church-planter. We have a vision to plant into the original town centre church in Fareham, Hampshire.
The 800-year-old church of St Peter and St Paul is situated adjacent to Fareham Town Centre. Over the last year, a vision has emerged to plant a ‘contemporary Anglican’ (evangelical-charismatic) church aimed at the younger generation, from St John’s Fareham, into this historic church, in partnership with Portsmouth Diocese.
This is a stipendiary post that would start based at St John’s Fareham, with the hope of building a team to be sent out with the plant. Grant money has been awarded by the national Church’s SMMI Board to re-order the church, employ initial staff, and kick-start this incredible faith venture.
This role is part of our diocese’s Vision and Strategy for the next five years, which includes plans to create new church plants and worshipping communities across our diocese, and to double the number of young disciples. For more information, see: www.portsmouth.anglican.org/strategy

The Diocese of Portsmouth is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workforce that represents our context and wider community. We are aware that those of United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage, women, and disabled people are currently under-represented among our clergy, and we particularly encourage applications from those with the relevant skills and experience that will increase this representation. The appointment will of course be based on merit alone. Enhanced DBS will be required.
