My client, a leading global logistics provider, is looking to recruit a Road & Rail National Operator to its busy, friendly team.
The purpose of the Road & Rail National Operator is to manage the outbound day to day groupage routes and adhere to various Network duties as outlined below.
Whilst the Operator will have a responsibility for Network, they will also be required to provide cover in other areas of the department when required.
SALARY: Up to £30k, 25 days annual leave with an additional day for birthday, pension, death in service, and other benefits.
HOURS: 8 am - 4.30 pm Monday to Friday (hybrid working available).
ROLE:
1. Arrange National deliveries and collections using approved suppliers available.
2. Book deliveries with customers ensuring text codes are updated accordingly and additional costs are passed to the relevant operator.
3. Manage and maintain all relevant records for the national network, including pallet networks, parcel carriers, etc., including statuses, PODs, booking information, etc.
4. Track shipment progress and take appropriate remedial actions if they are not running to the planned time.
5. Ensure that consignments are routed in a cost-effective way, whilst adhering to expected transit times.
6. Deal with all supplier/internal queries professionally and efficiently both on email and via telephone.
7. Re-allocate collections and deliveries as and where needed.
8. Liaise with the warehouse team and other departments in a polite and professional manner.
9. Resolve any issues arising during the day and escalate to Warehouse Supervisor and/or First Line Manager if necessary.
10. Check all shipment documentation, including hazardous paperwork, and escalate any discrepancies with our onsite DGSA.
11. Review the stock check and take appropriate action.
12. Spot and develop additional revenue opportunities, including European Shipments.
13. Daily maintenance of files ensuring all documentation is filed accurately.
14. Process the Goods On Dock reports and scan back relevant collections.
15. Process EDI’s accurately and effectively as and when required.
16. Deal with re-routes and crossed labeled freight.
