The purpose of the GE Project Controls Assistant is to provide support to the Project Controls team key activities/tasks which aims at coordinating and pacing our projects activities across the portfolio. The PCA role interfaces with several stakeholders both internal and external to the Operations Department. As such it requires a fair understanding of project management principles and an excellent interpersonal skillset. This role provides an incredible opportunity to learn fast and on the job, in a booming sector of the renewable energy, while the world is transitioning from fossil sources.
Key Responsibilities
* Chase and gather information across all functions and stakeholders of the project.
* Coordinate and track action plans as appropriate to enable targeted engineering, procurement, and construction progress.
* Monitor progress and prepare reports, internal and to the customer.
* Support key improvement initiatives around float management, earned value management, tools interfaces, etc., according to priorities.
* Support improvement actions around our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Receive training on the job by colleagues.
* Be given necessary autonomy according to appetite and capability.
Minimum Qualifications
HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering Discipline. Previous Project Management experience in the same or similar environment would be advantageous.
Specific Competencies
* Capacity to learn technical topics quickly.
* Good knowledge of at least one industry standard planning tool (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet).
Behavioral / Managerial Competencies
* Excellent people management and communication skills, able to think laterally.
* Challenge individuals against agreed tasks & schedules.
* Genuine curiosity.
* Interest in site/construction activities (we build infrastructures that serve the common good).
Languages
Essential - English.
Business Understanding
Good general understanding of the main business functions with commercial, contractual, and financial awareness would be advantageous.
