GSL Education Newcastle have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join our secondary client schools in Newcastle.
Job Summary: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you will support teachers in delivering engaging lessons and assist students with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health challenges.
SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) Responsibilities:
* Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and supporting KS 3 and KS 4 students with Special Educational Needs.
* Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
* Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Monitor and track student progress and provide feedback.
* Support students with their emotional and behavioural needs.
* Prepare and organise classroom materials and resources.
* Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
* Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) Requirements:
* Relevant teaching assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ) is preferable but not mandatory.
* Experience working with secondary or year 7 to year 11 school students.
* Previous experience as SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) would be beneficial.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A commitment to promoting the well-being and development of students.
* Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
