Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Construction to lead the delivery and management of a portfolio of ground-mounted solar farms. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of renewable energy within our organisation by building a high-performing team, optimising operational standards, and driving excellence in solar farm delivery and maintenance. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven track record in solar project management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee the end-to-end delivery of a comprehensive programme of solar farms, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
2. Build, lead, and mentor a dedicated team to deliver solar farm projects successfully.
3. Develop, streamline, and optimise workflows, defining clear operational and technical standards.
4. Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements throughout all phases of solar farm projects.
5. Foster collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
6. Establish and manage an effective operations and maintenance (O&M) framework to support long-term asset performance.
Requirements
1. 3+ years demonstrated experience in successfully delivering ground-mounted solar farms, from design to commissioning.
2. 10+ years experience in renewables, construction or related field.
3. Advanced knowledge of solar farm design, construction, and maintenance practices.
4. Previous experience in developing O&M frameworks or setting operational standards in renewable energy.
5. Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and stakeholder management.
6. Mechanical and electrical expertise relevant to solar farm infrastructure.
7. Familiarity with relevant UK regulations and industry standards for solar energy projects.
8. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
10. Willingness to travel and work away from home as required by project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
1. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Professional certifications in project management.
3. SMSTS.
