The role
As a Motor Underwriter, it’s essential you can fit into a fast-paced, evolving, and innovative environment. Our products will challenge the status quo, meaning you will be required to work with the underwriting lead to ensure our processes are effective and provide the efficiency required to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers. We are looking for someone who is customer and business-focused with a motivation to succeed and progress within this role.
You will be responsible for managing your workload efficiently whilst maintaining a high accuracy of decisioning, enabling customers to continue their car buying journey. It is key to actively engage in a collaborative and supportive team environment, where you share best practice and knowledge with your colleagues.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, has extensive knowledge in Motor Finance Underwriting, and understands the risk benefits of the secured nature of the product offering. You will be decisioning customers that have applied online or through dealerships, so decisioning efficiency is just as important as decision accuracy.
You will be expected to drive positive customer experiences by adhering to SLAs. You will be an integral part of our customers' car buying experience, assessing affordability and sustainability of HP and PCP products for customers looking to fund their vehicles via the new Admiral Money proposition. You will be working closely with dealerships in your region to ensure speedy outcomes for customers and dealers.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a subject matter expert for the Underwriting team as well as internal departments to optimise policies and processes.
* Engage with other SMEs across the Motor Finance function to make suggestions to improve the customer experience.
* Assess applications in line with our risk appetite utilising the tools available to you, within expected timescales.
* Ensure strong performance by putting quality of work and decisioning accuracy at the forefront.
* As this role is based in a new and growing team, you will be responsible for ensuring that best practice and expertise are shared across the operational teams and wider business areas where appropriate.
Skills
* Previous underwriting experience in the motor finance industry, with a strong appetite for providing great customer outcomes.
* Effective communication skills combined with the ability to communicate clearly to all staff members.
* Good telephony skills and experience talking to customers.
* Strong literacy and numerical skills.
* Willingness to be developed, coached, and to take on board feedback.
* Embrace working in a busy environment and are highly motivated.
* Used to working to deadlines and meeting KPIs.
* Pro-active, organised, and able to manage your time effectively and take initiative.
* Positive work ethic and a can-do attitude when supporting business change.
* Knowledge of FCA rulebook preferable but not essential.
* Experience/good knowledge of Open Banking, CIFAS/SIRA/HP & PCP Products would be beneficial.
