Learning Support Assistant – SEND (Mainstream Secondary School)

Pay: £450-525 per week (depending on experience & qualifications)

About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a mainstream secondary school in Romford, supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated SEND team, helping students access learning and achieve their full potential.
As an LSA, you will work closely with students who require additional support, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties. Your role will involve working 1:1 with students, assisting in small groups, and helping to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) under the guidance of the SENCO and class teachers.
This school has a strong inclusive ethos and provides excellent support for students with SEND, ensuring they can thrive in a mainstream setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide targeted support to students with SEND, both in-class and in small group interventions.
* Assist students with differentiated learning tasks, ensuring they can engage with the curriculum.
* Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement EHCP strategies.
* Support students with social, emotional, and communication needs, promoting independence and confidence.
* Help with exam preparation, literacy, numeracy, and organisational skills.
* Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the SEND team.
Assignment Details
* Full-time role, Monday to Friday.
* Working hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM (Term time only)
* Long-term position with potential for extension.
Person Specification
* Experience working with SEND students in a secondary school or similar setting.
* Knowledge of learning strategies for students with ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, or other additional needs.
* Ability to provide academic and emotional support in a structured and nurturing way.
* A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Connex.
