The Head of Reward is responsible for designing, managing, and implementing the group's reward strategy. This role ensures that the company's compensation, benefits, and performance-related initiatives are aligned with the overall business goals and attract, retain, and motivate top talent.

Hours: 37.5 hours ( Monday - Friday)
Salary: c£60k

Responsibilities – but not limited to:
Reward Strategy Development
· Lead the design and implementation of the company’s reward strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives, market trends, and organizational values.
· Regularly review and enhance the compensation and benefits offering to ensure competitiveness and fairness.
· Develop and maintain frameworks for salary structure, incentives, bonuses, and equity-based rewards.
Compensation Management
· Oversee the development and administration of compensation policies, including salary benchmarking, job evaluations, and market pay analysis.
· Ensure equitable pay practices, compliance with relevant legislation (e.g., gender pay gap reporting), and the application of internal and external equity.
Benefits Strategy
· Design and manage the company’s benefits package (e.g., health insurance, pensions, life insurance, wellbeing programs), ensuring it meets employees' needs and is cost-effective.
· Assess and review employee benefits regularly, making recommendations for changes or improvements.
Performance and Incentive Management
· Design, implement, and monitor performance management systems, ensuring reward systems are aligned with business performance and employee contributions.
· Oversee the design and administration of bonus schemes, long-term incentive plans, and recognition programs.
Stakeholder Management
· Advise and collaborate with senior leaders, HR teams, and line managers on reward-related matters, ensuring alignment with business needs.
· Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on reward strategy and practices, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
Data Analytics and Reporting
· Manage and present reward-related data and analysis to senior management, supporting decision-making processes.
· Oversee reward-related reporting (e.g., compensation reviews, employee engagement surveys) and compliance with regulations such as tax laws and equal pay reporting.
Change Management
· Lead reward-related change initiatives, ensuring smooth communication, employee understanding, and successful adoption of new policies.
· Manage the impact of organizational change on compensation and benefits, advising on restructuring, mergers, or acquisitions.
Employee Engagement and Retention
· Ensure that the reward system motivates employees, fosters a culture of recognition, and enhances engagement and retention.
· Design and implement strategies to communicate reward initiatives clearly to employees, ensuring transparency and understanding.
Remuneration Committee (RemCo) Support
* Prepare and present detailed reports, data, and analysis to the RemCo, ensuring that reward policies and decisions are in line with corporate objectives, market trends, and shareholder expectations.
* Support RemCo in making decisions related to the compensation of executive team members, ensuring that proposals are consistent with governance standards and regulatory requirements.
* Provide strategic advice and guidance to the RemCo on the design and implementation of incentive plans (short-term and long-term) and the alignment of rewards with business performance.
* Maintain a proactive relationship with external advisors (e.g., compensation consultants, auditors) to provide the RemCo with up-to-date insights on market trends and best practices.
* Support RemCo in reviewing the company’s broader reward policy to ensure alignment with business strategy and employee engagement goals.
* Ensure the RemCo’s decisions are clearly communicated to senior management and employees in a transparent and consistent manner, helping to foster understanding and trust in the company’s reward practices.
Compliance and Risk Management
· Ensure reward policies comply with all relevant UK employment law and regulations (e.g., tax, pensions, and equal pay laws).
· Continuously monitor the reward environment and adapt practices to mitigate any legal or regulatory risks.
Experience and qualifications required for the role:
Qualifications/Training
· Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in HR or Compensation & Benefits is desirable.
Experience
· Extensive experience in a compensation and benefits role, ideally within a large or complex organization.
· Proven track record in designing and implementing reward strategies, incentive schemes, and benefits programs.
· Strong experience in data analysis, salary benchmarking, and using HR information systems (HRIS).
· Expertise in UK employment law, tax, pensions, and regulations relating to employee compensation.
Skills
· Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex reward systems to both senior management and employees.
· Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret and present data to support decision-making.
· Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Other
· Membership in a professional HR body (e.g., CIPD) is highly desirable.
· Ability to stay up to date with emerging trends in the compensation and benefits landscape.
