Yeovil College is excited to announce an opening for a Pastoral Support Practitioner due to continued growth in our Foundation Learning department. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Student Support and the Foundation Learning team to provide individualised support for our most vulnerable learners, focusing on those within the Foundation Learning department. Your responsibilities will include assisting Study Programme Managers with pastoral interventions, supporting students with SEMH needs, and providing pastoral care to remove barriers to learning. You will also play a key role in supporting learners' emotional and social wellbeing, addressing issues such as mental health, exploitation, and potential radicalisation. Your work will involve building strong relationships with both learners and their families, ensuring their safety, progress, and overall wellbeing through clear communication and monitoring. By collaborating with internal teams and external agencies, you will help facilitate successful transitions and guide students through their educational journey to ensure they reach their full potential.
What we're looking for:
1. Experience of working with young people developing motivation, resilience and strategy development
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
4. An excellent team player, demonstrating resilience and empathy
5. Youth Work or related degree foundation or equivalent
6. Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent
