We're looking for an Assistant Design Engineer with expertise in Highways Bridges and Structures to join our Transportation team in Birmingham or London. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Engineer to deliver design packages that align with client requirements, ensuring they are completed within agreed timeframes and budgets. Location: Birmingham / London - remote working available, with travel to the office required
Contract: Permanent Fulltime with some flexibility on hours
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of technical outputs for individuals and project teams. Your role may involve scheme investigations, site and structural inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility and options studies, preliminary and detailed designs, preparing tender documents, and inspecting works during construction.
Your day to day will include:
1. Support Lead Engineer for highway structures schemes
2. Identify and apply appropriate methodologies and standards to produce effective and innovative solutions for highways structures to current standards
3. Provide information to populate the risk register and decision register and update this information as the project develops
What are we looking for?
This role of Assistant Design Engineer is great if you have:
1. A degree or equivalent in a Civil/Structural Engineering
2. Working towards Chartered / incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (MICE/MIStructE or equivalent)
3. Knowledge and Experience of using design/analysis software (e.g. LUSAS, Midas, Archie M, Autodesk Bridge Design)
4. Experience in inspection, assessment, design and construction of highways structures to DMRB and Eurocodes
