Band 3 Special School Complex Care Assistant (Enteral Feeds)

You will work as part of the Special School Nursing Service in providing health care support to children/young people who require enteral feeds during their school day. (Enteral feeding refers to intake of food via gastrointestinal tract through a tube directly into the stomach or small intestine for children who are unable to have all their diet and fluids by mouth).
To work as part of a team supporting the Special School Nursing Service to deliver a high standard of care to children/young people. To contribute to safe and effective growth measurement of children/young people within special school nursing service in line with Healthy Child Programme.
To work as part of a multi-agency team within a special school and other establishments under the direction of the Team Leader, reporting relevant information to the special school nurse.
To undertake administrative duties to enable the service to function effectively.
Main duties of the job
We have a vacancy within our city-wide Special School Nursing Service for Band 3 Complex Care Assistant to support pupils' enteral feeding needs within Birmingham Special Schools.
The Post is for 30 hours per week, over 5 days, Monday - Friday, term time, with a 30-minute unpaid break. This is a Fixed Term 12 Month Contract for Maternity Cover.

Full competency-based training will be given to successful applicants.
An Enhanced DBS will be required for this post.

Person Specification
Qualifications/ training
* NVQ Level 2 or above in Care.
* Evidence of continued learning and development.
Experience
* Previous experience of dealing with members of the public.
* Previous experience of working with children and young people.
* Previous clerical experience.
Skills/knowledge
* Demonstrate willingness to undertake a range of duties and to learn new tasks including clinical procedures where relevant.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of carrying out work within another agency's environment.
* Demonstrate an understanding of Disability.
* Awareness of Safeguarding issues.
* Ability to recognise the importance of communication within the Multi-disciplinary team.
