LOCATION Cardiff APPLICATION DEADLINE 23/12/2024 The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing provides fully funded PhD studentships and comprehensive training for postgraduate research students in Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing. The CDT has been designed to align with the UK's first Compound Semiconductor (CS) Cluster and has attracted over £500m in funding, offering a four-year PhD programme. Partnered with Cardiff University, the University of Manchester, the University of Sheffield, and UCL, the programme builds on initiatives like the CSA Catapult and the EPSRC Future Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Hub. The aim is to foster economic growth through industry-university partnerships applying innovative research. The 4-year PhD Programme The programme includes fully funded PhD studentships covering tuition fees and living expenses. The first year includes taught modules at Cardiff University in either an MSc in Compound Semiconductor Physics or an MSc in Compound Semiconductor Electronics. Following the first year, students undertake three years of PhD research at Cardiff or one of the partner universities, with all projects involving an industry partner.
