Brief Description

We are seeking a Workforce Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to support our East Coast Route teams in promoting a positive safety culture.
The Workforce Health, Safety & Environment Advisor role focuses on providing expert guidance and support to our East Coast Route Maintenance, Operations, and Telecomms teams. Key responsibilities include fostering positive cultural and behavioural changes in health and well-being, alongside evaluating and improving site health and safety management systems.
We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a strong desire to support others and develop effective solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate collaborative behaviours, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to implement positive changes in a dynamic environment.
This role involves applying safety expertise specifically to railway operations, with a strong emphasis on ensuring effective management of health and safety on sites. Key focuses include supporting and developing team members while assisting managers in implementing practical, risk-based safety solutions.

This role typically involves a 35-hour workweek and is primarily site-based. As the railway operates 24/7, applicants must demonstrate flexibility to accommodate operational needs.
Minimum Requirements
1. National Examination Board in Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH) Certificate
2. Knowledge of safety and compliance management processes
3. Knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
4. Knowledge of environmental management system
5. Knowledge of operational railway environment
6. Analytical capability
7. Knowledge of coaching techniques
8. Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
9. Membership of a relevant professional body
10. Institute of Environmental Management Award (IEMA)

• Salary of £35,582- £44,477 (Band 4.b) depending on skills, qualifications and experience
