Take on a new leadership challenge at the forefront of Mental Health Care
The Charity
We are St Andrew's, a mental health charity dedicated to inspiring hope for those living with complex mental health needs. We strive for a future with less stigma, more community support, and more research and education.
Join us and support individuals in transforming their lives.
You will join a team of over 20 Consultant Psychologists and 50 registered Psychologists across our 3 sites (Northampton, Birmingham, and Essex) and our Community Partnerships division, providing ample support and opportunities for professional growth.
Our patients and your colleagues will expect you to live the St Andrews CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence every single day.
Main Duties of the Job
The LD/ASD Division delivers specialized assessment and treatment to men and women with a diagnosis of intellectual disability and/or autism, alongside co-morbid mental health, neurodevelopmental, and offending/challenging behavior needs. The successful applicant will join a well-established psychology department offering professional support and expertise.
We seek a HCPC registered applied psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic) to join our multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, social work, adult education, CAPS, vocational training, and physical health and exercise teams.
Your responsibilities will include managing a caseload of patients with the assistance of an assistant psychologist. Key tasks involve assessing, formulating, delivering treatment, and evaluating clinical outcomes. Treatment is provided within a cognitive behavioral model, emphasizing psychotherapy for autism and intellectual disability impairments, emotional and psychiatric disorders, and offense-related interventions aimed at reducing recidivism. Clinical risk assessment and management are major aspects of this role, requiring familiarity with standardized methods for assessing clinical risks.
About Us
St Andrews is committed to transitioning patients into the community as soon as possible, with several bespoke properties on-site for individuals moving from the hospital into the community. Part of your caseload may involve working with these patients to prepare them for their transition.
Experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism and/or Learning Disability is advantageous, as is experience with major mental illness, trauma, and offending behavior, as many patients present multiple challenges. You will have access to a larger group of counselling, clinical, and forensic psychologists for consultation and collaboration across clinical specialties. The Charity supports innovation and research, providing opportunities for research and development in this role.
