Anderson Knight is currently recruiting a Strategic Buyer to join one of our clients in Glasgow.
The Strategic Buyer will play a key role in optimising the supply chain and sourcing the best materials, services, and suppliers to support all manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely procurement of materials while driving cost efficiency and quality improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams to achieve company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement sourcing strategies to meet business needs, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality, and on-time delivery of goods.
* Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, building long-term strategic relationships.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable outcomes.
* Collaborate closely with the supply chain, production, and engineering teams to align procurement strategies with manufacturing requirements.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring quality standards, delivery schedules, and compliance with contractual agreements.
* Conduct market analysis and benchmark pricing to ensure competitive sourcing.
* Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvements, and risk mitigation in the supply chain.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities, including supplier contracts and performance metrics.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards in procurement practices.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and efficiency improvements.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
* Analytical mindset with experience in data analysis, forecasting, and market research.
* Knowledge of supplier management, quality control, and risk mitigation strategies.
* Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
