Thales people architect solutions that are relied upon to deliver operational advantage at every decisive moment throughout the mission. Defence and armed forces customers rely on us to deliver the full range of defensive systems for land, sea, and air. From early warning to threat neutralisation, our platforms cover all levels from very short-range systems to extended protection across the entire battle-space including Airspace Mobility Solutions, Vehicles and Tactical Systems, and Missile Defence, Optronics, and Radar.
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Systems Engineer within Thales OME. The role can be based in Reading or Glasgow and may require some travel and time spent at other Thales sites, customer sites, or integration and test facilities.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be able to work autonomously to contribute towards the systems engineering design activities throughout the engineering project involving:
* Definition of Systems Requirements for the product
* Creation of design documentation capturing the systems engineering design
* Definition of the internal and external interfaces of the system
* Functional definition of system behaviour
* Development of test procedures to support the verification of the system
* Carrying out integration and verification testing against test procedures
* Conducting activities to gather evidence that the systems requirements have been achieved
* Peer reviewing technical artefacts
* Supporting the wider engineering team by sharing knowledge
The successful candidate should be a good communicator who is proactive and able to constructively challenge ideas and concepts, and have experience in:
* Working as part of a multi-disciplinary design team
* Defining systems interfaces, boundaries, and other external factors that would impact on design
* Requirements Engineering (elicitation, decomposition, and analysis)
* Analysing the operational concepts of a system
It would be beneficial if the candidate also has:
* Experience of the decomposition of a systems design to sub-system level
* Experience or knowledge of systems modelling techniques
* Experience of analysing potential solutions against the key needs in a design brief
* Experience of using design analysis techniques (trade-off analysis, calculations, modelling and simulation, etc.)
This role will report to the Discipline Manager for Systems Engineering.
In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
